Acceptance of Impermanence
Oil on paper, 150x130 cm2015
Is it strange to find peace in endings,
To find tranquillity among the turmoil,
When acceptance has been embraced,
And all let go of, without grasping and the pain of release?
Is it abnormal or just adaptive?
Is it denial, and will grief come over me later
Like some tear-tsunami of past longings?
Will I crumble, eroded from the inside,
Unable to stand so tall?
Or is this a strength, a virtue,
Which allows me to help others stand
In moments of loss?
Is it a privilege that I must use
And be a rock for others,
Or may I be dismayed sometime?
Will some future separation
Show me a vulnerability long hidden,
As if a memento rediscovered of a loved one
Will bring down walls I never knew existed,
Or did I dismantle those barriers long ago?
Do my doubts just remind me of my certainty?
